A local paper in Sweden published an article stating that the Sweden intends to start taxing poker sites and poker affiliate sites.  According to the article, the Swedish Skatteverket plans on implementing a 2 step process.  First, the intend to taks the owners of poker websites and poker affiliate websites.  If the taxes are not paid, the Skatteverket intends to  prosecute all offenders for tax evasion. 

The leader of this poker project for the tax board internet unit, Dag Hardyson stated that they are not targeting the poker players themselvs, but rather the poker sites and the poker affiliate sites as well as anyone that is involved in making money by referring players to the online poker rooms.  The tax board in Sweden  estimates that there are millions at stake that are not being declared by the online poker sites and online poker affiliates.
