After playing but not cashing in three other events of the LEOCOP IV at Ladbrokes Poker, james666 turned it all around on Sunday with a win in the latest event. He picked up an $18,650 prize for the win.
"This has been one of the most hotly contested tournaments so far. james666 has played in three other events although he didn't cash in any of those, so this is obviously a great result for him," said Edward Ihre, Ladbrokes Poker managing director.
"I think his perseverance has paid off! It's worth playing in as many tournaments in the festival as possible."
The Deepstack proved to be an endurance test for players. It took nine hours of play just to get down to the final table, and by that point blinds were already up to $10,000/$20,000 with a $2,000 ante.
It took only two hands for PapaBurgundi to take his leave of the final table in 10th place. He ended up all-in pre-flop with pocket jacks against acebenny, who showed A-K. A board of K-K-2-T-T gave acebenny a dominating full house, and PapaBurgundi hit the rail.
Slim_boy had a second-place finish in Event 1 of the LEOCOP, and found himself at another final table Sunday night as well. He wasn't able to pull out a win this time either when james666 took him out with an A-K.
Heads-up came down to MadeInSweden versus james666 after 11 hands of play. The chip lead yo-yoed between the two but james666 was finally able to seal the deal when he ended up with the higher kicker as both players made trip sixes on the board.
Along with the cash prize, james666 earns a seat in the Masters Event later this month. His win also puts him into second place in the LEOCOP Leaderboard, in line to win an extra $3,000 in cash. MadeInSweden is now up in fifth place on the leaderboard as well.
"Apart from the massive added money we're giving away, a 'top ten' position on our LEOCOP Leaderboard guarantees you a share of $14,000 in bonus cash and a top 80 placing an exclusive invitation to play for a seat in a million dollar tournament," Ihre said.
The points awarded on the LEOCOP Leaderboard are weighted and take into account the number of runners, the place the player finishes in and the level of buy-in of each tournament.
