On Aug. 3, Koester, a poker player from Germany, signed up for his first tournament on Titan Poker, the $250,000 Guaranteed Prize tournament. He competed against nearly 2,000 players and after seven and a half hours he was in heads-up play, going for his first win.
Victory wasn't in the cards for Koester this time around, though. On the last hand his #Kd#4h was outflopped, giving his opponent a pair of sixes and the win while Koester collected $27,000 for his second-place finish.
"I'm very happy that I did well in my very first tournament at Titan Poker," Koester said. "The tournament went smoothly and was a lot of fun - from the very start I managed to play well. Next time I'll try for first place!!"
The $250,000 Guaranteed plays every Sunday night and has a $200+$15 direct buy-in. However, players can also win their way into the tournament through satellites for much less.
Koester wasn't the only German to pick up a big prize this month either. Alexander "therealdings" Jung and Artem "NeX111" Khudaverdiev each picked up a prize package to go to the Asian Poker Tour Macau main event this month as well.
Khardaverdiev won his seat through the Titan Poker VIP Loyalty Race.
"As soon as I heard about the Titan Poker VIP Race, I wanted to participate immediately," Khardaverdiev said. "I am very happy that I won and I'm looking forward to Macau. Thank you Titan Poker for this amazing opportunity!"
Jung picked up his prize package through the satellites Titan Poker is hosting for the APT Macau.
"I'm so happy that I've won this brilliant prize! I hope that Macau will prove to be just as successful for me! Thank you Titan Poker!"
Antonio "taxi49" Naves from Spain and Hong Hai "BeYondGodLiKe" Chen from Australia also picked up APT Macau prize packages this month.
Titan Poker awards more than $16 million each month in guaranteed cash and prize packages. The poker site regularly sends players to major poker events around the world such as the Aussie Millions, the World Series of Poker and European Poker Tour events.
The site will also boost its money payout in September with a $2.5 million guaranteed prize tournament.
