Hoyt To Host Hog Extravaganza To Benefit Charity
Added: November 8th, 2008

The new 104,000-square-foot store in Las Vegas might be the occasion for celebration, but a charity will benefit when the poker portion of the festivities rolls around. Hoyt Corkins serves as host for a Celebrity Poker Tournament that will give its proceeds to the Nevada Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

The "Alabama Cowboy" will have plenty of poker star power on hand to help him raise money for the JDRF.

Renowned tournament director Matt Savage will serve as emcee for the event. Among the players who have confirmed their attendance so far are Doyle Brunson, Todd Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Cyndy Violette, Chip & Karina Jett, Brad "Yukon" Booth, Mark Newhouse, Brandon Cantu, Jeff Madsen, Lee Watkinson and James Van Alstyne.

Also on board are two of the 2008 WSOP Main Event's "November Nine," Dennis Phillips and David "Chino" Rheem.

There will be a host of activities for those who won't be playing in the tournament themselves. WPT Boot Camp will host poker seminars, New Poker will host side games, Big Chief is sponsoring a Cigar Lounge, Who's Your Daddy Energy Drink will be handing out free samples, and everyone can enjoy complimentary drinks from the Hogs & Heifers Saloon.

As you might expect, there will be plenty of memorabilia up for auction as well. Robert Williamson III will serve as emcee for a live auction on the premises Saturday, and a silent auction sponsored by Triumph Sports will also be available.

The $500 tournament is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. local time this Saturday and players will begin with $1,000 in chips. Rebuys are available for $200 for the first three 20-minute levels, after which a single $200 add-on for an additional $2,000 chips will be available.

For those who want a chance to play with their favorite poker pros but can't necessarily afford the buy-in, single-table satellites will be available for $60 at the Red Rock Harley-Davidson store beginning on Friday.

The final nine players will all win prizes, but the winner of the tournament will receive a 2008 105th Anniversary Edition Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a Curtis & Co. World model watch and a custom lead crystal trophy designed by Legacy Allegiance.

Registration will open at noon on the day of the tournament, but seats are limited. Preregistration for the event is still available at www.greasiewheels.com or by contacting the event coordinator, Lisa Wheeler, at lisa@greasiewheels.com.
