An online poker "perfect storm" so to speak, and something not easily replicated or topped.
Then came October.
Fueled by the launch of a second $500/$1,000 Hold'em table at Full Tilt (dubbed "GusHeaven" and with a reserved seat for Gus Hansen, complementing the existing "RailHeaven" with a reserved seat for Patrik Antonius) and another traffic surge across the board, you can likely guess what the story of this past month has been:
More online poker record-shattering, including a new standard - at a head-spinning $723,938 - for biggest pot ever won online.
Several impressive online poker marks were hit thoughout Oct., but none more notable than the record-breaking pot just a few days ago on Oct. 26. But more than just the one pot, the session surrounding it turned into online poker's biggest night ever.
#img: john-juanda_25479.jpg: left: Has anyone had a better two months than John Juanda?#
In fact, the record for biggest pot was broken no less than four times that night, including a $617k pot won by Tom "durrrr" Dwan, a $678k pot won by ((John Juanda)) and a $687k pot scooped by ((Phil Ivey)) - all capped off by the $723k monster won by Di "Urindanger" Dang.

Unfortunately for Dwan: Despite winning one of the ginormous pots, he was actually on the losing end of the top three, including two of the sickest AA vs. KK coolers you can imagine. (Read that story here.)
Amazingly enough though, despite taking a shellacking in the huge pots, Dwan not only managed to come out even for the session he also managed to book a record-breaking Hold'em profit for the month - an awe-inspiring $1,996,174, putting him easily at the top of the monthly moneymakers list.

Online Poker Traffic Report
About the only poker room that didn't show an increase in traffic this month, surprisingly, was overall traffic leader PokerStars.
The $30 million WCOOP likely had something to do with the astonishing traffic numbers put up in Sept., so perhaps it was only natural traffic at Stars would settle back down to a more "normal" level - a still more than substantial 16,200 players on average over each 24 hour period, but overall a 13% drop.
The rest of the top 10 poker rooms seemed to pick up the slack however, with virtually all showing slight to moderate traffic increases, led by Everest Poker's 21% increase to 2,813 players on average.
Next biggest jump was PartyPoker, rising 15% to 4,915 players. Rounding out the list are UltimateBet (up 10% to 1,312); Full Tilt Poker (up 8% to 8,674 players and including its busiest day of the year so far, with 9,085 players on Wed., Oct. 15); DoylesRoom (up 6% to 1,696); Titan Poker (up 5% to 5,273); Absolute Poker (up 4% to 1,038); and Paradise Poker (up 3% to 1,688).
