APT Macau, not to be confused with PokerStars.com Asian Pacific Poker Tour, which kicks off tomorrow, took place at the glamorous Galaxy Starworld and featured a $5,300 buy-in with a lofty $1.5 million guarantee. A total of 257 players bought in to the record-setting event.

Some of the world's most elite poker players, including Doyle Brunson, Liz Lieu, J.J. Liu, Mel Judah, Todd Brunson, Nam Le, Kenny Tran, David "Chino" Rheem, Johnny Chan and J.C. Tran all took part in the high stakes poker tournament, which was ultimately won by Timoshenko.

Timoshenko, who is of Ukrainian decent but currently resides in the United States, entered the final table as one of the middle stacks but wasted no time in going to work. He quickly eliminated Wah Cheong Wong, who started the day as one of the chip leaders, and then busted Quang Nguyen to add more ammunition to his stack.

Several hands later Timoshenko busted Julio Diaz to take a massive chip lead on the field with over $1.6 million chips to his name.

It proved to be too much for the rest of the players at the final table and by the time Timoshenko entered heads-up play against Joon Hee Yea he held a chip advantage of $2.3 million to Yea's $257,000.

Timoshenko's victory marked the conclusion of another successful APT Macau. The APT continues to be one of the most popular tournaments in Asia and with sponsors like Titan Poker and the iPoker network it seems destined to grow even larger.

The next stop for the APT will be Seoul, South Korea, although the dates have yet to be released.
