Zubs1aa Picks Up Big Win In Bodog Poker Open
Added: October 11th, 2008

Plenty of players were interested in trying to turn a profit in the $500 buy-in event on Sunday. A total of 477 players turned up, but Arik "zubs1aa" Marks topped them all for the first-place prize.

For Marks, who is from Massachusetts, the win was made even sweeter by the fact he used qualifiers to make his way into the event for much less than the $500 buy-in. He won three separate $100 satellites on Saturday to give him his main event buy-in plus $1,000 in tournament dollars.

By Sunday, Marks had also already picked up two cashes in other Bodog Poker events. He had a seventh-place finish in the Poker Open Event 5, a $200+$15 Pot-Limit Hold'em event, plus a third-place finish in the weekly $1,500 guaranteed event.

Marks was also up against plenty of well-known players in the main event on Sunday. Thayer "thay3r" Rasmussen, Eric "Rizen" Lynch, Zachary "CrazyZachary" Clark, John "PearlJammer" Turner and others were at the virtual felt.

The Team Bodog pros were also in attendance, with David Williams, Evelyn Ng, and Jean-Robert Bellande putting in their best, but it was Justin Bonomo who went the furthest for the team, making it to the final table.

Bonomo ended up finishing in ninth, and the final table played out as follows:

Place Name Prize 1st zubs1aa $75,000 2nd El Rubio $45,000 3rd cmizzles3687 $28,500 4th flipflopn $21,000 5th Justin58 $16,500 6th Hasn82 $13,500 7th SHiFtYFiNGeR $10,500 8th ArmyDrill $6,600 9th Justin Bonomo $5,100

The Bodog Poker Open II consisted of 14 tournaments this time around and paid out more than $737,478 in prize money. With its unique combination of championship and bounty events, more than 3,500 players turned up to play throughout the series.

This isn't the last of Bodog Poker's generosity, however. The poker site will have plenty of guaranteed tournaments for players to continue to play in as well as online qualifiers for major live events around the world.
