Chris Ferguson is definitely one of the best poker players the world has ever seen. His real name is Christopher Philip Ferguson.

Chris Ferguson was born on the 11th of April, 1963 in Los Angeles, California.

Education

Chris Ferguson was very much interested in computers. He pursued his PH.D. in computer science. Before becoming a PH. D. he had also pursued an undergraduate course in the same field. Both his parents are also extremely educated and it is no wonder their son has followed in their footsteps. Ferguson’s father as well as his mother have a PH. D. in mathematics. His father teaches game theory at UCLA where he helps the students develop strong mathematical skills through the help of using game theory as well as computer stimulations so that learning becomes easy.

Career

Ferguson took special interest in poker when he was just 10 years old. He used to play poker in college for earning extra money. Even before any poker sites came into the internet scene, Chris was playing poker regularly on IRC channels on his computer. He won many games on these IRC channels against opponents of different countries. He soon became the highest ranked player in these IRC channels. In the year 1994, Ferguson started playing in small professional tournaments held in California. In the year 1995, he also participated in his First World Series. In 2000, Ferguson defeated his rival T.J. Cloutier in the WSOP professional tournament and won $1.5 million in prize money.

In 2001, Chris won a well rounded bracelet in a major tournament and this was followed by two wins in 2003.

Ferguson finished second when he was competing in the 2005 National Heads-Up Poker Championship. This tournament was held in Britain and it was telecasted live all over Britain. The winner was Phil Hellmuth. In 2006, Chris again participated in the same tournament but known by the name of European Poker Masters and the Million Dollar Cash Game. This was Europe’s biggest poker tournament. He finished as a runner up again behind Ted Forrest.

Ever since Chris started playing in the World Series, he has many records to his name. He has more bracelets, more money finishes and more final tables to his name than any other professional poker player. Chris has own over $4,000,000 in the WSOP tournament alone and this is quite a feat.

Ferguson is a part of the Fult Tilt Poker website, which is an online website that was opened in the year 1994. He is trying his to make internet poker as popular as possible through his website.

In the current year of 2007, his total tournaments earnings have been $5,800,000.

Present Day

Today Chris Ferguson is single as he has still not found that special woman in his life. From starting to play poker for fun in the year 1972, Chris has become one of the best professional poker players that the world has ever seen. He wanted to share his playing skills with everyone and hence he has also become a poker professor at a major university.

Hobbies and Likes

Chris Ferguson also has a passion for dancing and music. He can be seen dancing with his friends in many clubs. In terms of music, he loves listening to Jazz and Classical. His favorite poker players are Mike Sexton, Daniel Negreanu and Erik Seidel. Today Chris does not play cash games and he participates only in big tournaments.

He would love to teach people to be more tolerant life and would love them to be less hypocritical of others. He also wants the rules to be very strict for abusive players so that casinos and poker can earn the respect that they demand. Chris has also shared his dancing skills before with other people. He was a former ballroom dance instructor. Today he also heads a software development company.
