Greg Raymer grew up in an Air Force family. He moved around the country throughout his childhood. Greg is a highly educated man in fact, he has earned a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, a Masters Degree in Biochemistry and a Juris Doctorate in Law. During his time spent pursuing his degrees he began playing blackjack and poker to make a little extra money. Upon the completion of his education Greg became a lawyer and worked in that field for ten years before calling it quits.

Greg had always enjoyed gaming and in 2001 he won in the money in The World Series of Poker. In 2004, Greg defeated David Williams to win the $5,000,000 first prize in the $10,000 no limit Texas Hold'em World Series of Poker main event. In 2005 WSOP Main Event Greg came in 25th place. In 2006 he came in second in the $1,000,000 guaranteed tournament on PokerStars.com.

Greg is called "Fossilman" because he is a collector and seller of fossils. He used one of the first fossils he bought as a card protector. He now sells fossils on his website.

While not working on his upcoming book or travelling Greg enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter.

Before winning the WSOP, I played a lot online, as it was a convenient way to play a little each night before bed. I played most of the time at www.pokerstars.com, and occasionally on a couple of other sites. Now that I’ve won the WSOP, I have less time to play poker online, as I’m on the road so much, and usually playing live or getting other work done. When I do play online, I play exclusively on PS, so if you see somebody on another site with the name FossilMan or one like it, it isn’t me.
